Last week, I stopped at a Farmer’s Market and bought fresh peaches. Since then, I’ve been trying to incorporate into as much as I can! So far I’ve made peach puff pancakes, roasted peaches with brown sugar and cinnamon, and peaches and cream smoothies. Then, I saw this gorgeous summertime post on Style Me Pretty featuring some gorgeous peaches. This sweet fruit is perfect for summer weddings in every way! In the food, cake, and even as favors! I love the idea of peaches in everything!

Okay brides, let’s get real. We love talking about flowers, decor, dresses and happy pictures, but what about those behind-the-scenes wedding day disasters? Every bride has had them and every bride-to-be dreads them. So what’s a girl to do? We’re starting a fun series talking about different wedding day disasters, how to avoid them, and what to do if they happen!
We’ve all heard the Alanis song, “It’s like rain on your wedding day!” Although considered to be good luck, cloudy skies can be disappointing, especially for any outdoor plans.
How to avoid rain on your wedding day:
It might sound silly: of course you can’t prevent the weather from doing its thing, but you can take certain precautions to stop the weather from ruining your day! If any part of your wedding day activities are to take place outside, make sure you have a clear indoor plan. But don’t just have a plan, really visualize the indoor plan taking place. If you can imagine happily walking down the aisle to your soon-to-be husband indoors, then it won’t be as upsetting if adverse weather were to take place.
Get creative when planning ahead for stormy weather with fun accessories and photo props like the ones below. If rain is in your wedding future, plan for cute rain boots and large golf umbrellas to smooch under. These props can make for adorable photos while also keeping you and your loved ones dry!

It’s raining…now what?
Have a good spirit! No drop of rain will keep you from the most important part: getting married! Bad weather can certainly seem horrible, but it doesn’t have to be! Take the day in stride, including any snags in the plans. In the end, getting married is the point! Plus, stormy skies doesn’t ruin much at all! Just take a look at this amazing photo taken by egomedia photography:

The point is: wedding day disasters don’t have to be disasters at all! Doing a little pre-planning and having a good attitude and right mindset in spite of things can really help you enjoy your wedding day for what it is, instead of dwelling on what you wanted it to be!
Do you have any tips to share, or did you have a wedding day disaster? Share it with us in the comments!

Father’s Day had me reminiscing about memories growing up with my Dad and the day he walked me down the aisle towards the love of my life. I came across this picture on pinterest (are you following us?) and it made me smile to see a picture of a sweet little reminder from a bride to her Dad. We hope you celebrated Father’s Day with the Dad’s in your life, and tell us other sweet ways to honor your Pop at your wedding!

Dear Annapolitan Readers,
2011 has been a year of monumental moments! In May, I graduated my beloved alma mater and commissioned into the US Army. Shortly after, I married my best friend on a day that was made so beautiful and special by Intrigue Design & Decor and all the other Locals We Love that were there!. Little did I know that a few months later, my friends, Sarah and Melissa, would approach me about starting a new blog, called Annapolitan Bride. On August 15th, the blog made its debut. Here we are, 4 1/2 months later, wrapping up 2011 and reflecting on how much has happened!
As the New Year approaches, Annapolitan Bride will be taking a short hiatus in order to prepare for 2012! Check back on January 1st for a blog makeover and the start of an exciting year full of inspiration and real Annapolitan Weddings!
In the meantime, to satisfy your Annapoltian cravings, check out 10 of our favorite posts thus far! We wish you all a happy end to the Holiday season and a joyous start to the New Year!
Love and Happiness,

Banquet tables are becoming more and more popular in weddings today, and it’s easy to see why. Family-style seating is dramatic and offers a huge palette for creative floral decor.
One huge benefit to having family-style seating is the fact that they add a sense of warmth and intimacy to any reception. Don’t be afraid to seat next to each other people who may not be familiar with one another. Part of the joy of weddings is the marriage of friends and families from two different walks of life!

Banquet tables offer a huge impact for large weddings as well, as long as you have the space!

And if you don’t want to commit to seating all your guests at banquet tables, considering having your wedding party or immediate family join you and your groom at a banquet head-table.

The soft flickering candlelight is peaceful and romantic. One of the simplest additions to my wedding reception that really made a huge impact was the multitude of candle votives flickering in windows and on the tables. Especially in winter weddings, candlelight can add warmth and beauty to any room!
