Wedding decor can sometimes pose a challenge for brides who are wanting to DIY or display something unique. Vintage tea tins are a gorgeous way to add an elegant touch to your centerpiece. DIY: Glowing Lawn Art

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

I love DIY projects, but I especially love DIY projects that are easy as pie!

This feature from Once Wed Magazine via Design Sponge has been circling the internet, and the candle display really caught my eye. The best part is that it’s super simple to recreate. All you need are candles, a design space to work with, and patient helpers to light all the candles.

I absolutely love the idea of having an outdoor garden or beach ceremony, then decorating the area with a gorgeous candle design for during the reception! So simple, yet so striking and gorgeous!

DIY: Scent Memory

Tuesday, March 27th, 2012

This DIY is not crafty in any way, but it’s an easy way to make your wedding memories last forever. After I was engaged, a woman I met in a store told me to buy a special new perfume, and to wear it at wedding related events including showers, rehearsal dinner, on the big day, and into the honeymoon. Scent is a powerful way to keep memories, and programming your brain to recall wedding memories when you smell a certain fragrance is a great way to do this.

When choosing your wedding fragrance, be sure it’s something you love. If possible, get small samples of different options, and wear them for a few days. Be wary of purchasing fragrances you like on other people as perfumes have a tendency to react with your own body chemistry – perfumes can smell differently on different people.

Make sure your fragrance fits your style. If you don’t normally wear musky, mature scents, then purchasing Chanel No. 5 may not be the best choice. Wear something that makes you feel like you.

Make your wedding fragrance special. For a longer lasting scent, purchase Eau du Parfum as opposed to Eau du Toilette. Toilette is more watered-down, producing a lighter scent. Parfum is usually more expensive, but it will last longer and you won’t need to reapply as often.

Don’t ruin the memory! It might be tempting to spritz your new perfume for going out with the girls, but save this particular scent for wedding-related events. After it’s all said and done, wearing your wedding perfume on special nights with the new hubby with bring back all those happy feelings from your wedding day!
